Course 500 Professionalism, Ethics and Cultural Awareness is being offered in an intensive format in Thunder Bay, ON. Course 500 is the last of our five courses in the First Nations Health Managers Program leading to the Certified First Nations Health Manager (CFNHM) professional designation. This course provides health managers with key insights into the importance of cultures and community, and cultures and health care. Cultural influences affect decision making and behaviours in communities, which is why it is so important for health managers to clearly understand the community culture in which they work. It is necessary to support the creation of a culturally competent health system where First Nations people can experience culturally safe care.

The course takes place over a nine-week period. Students will receive their course materials and should begin the required readings, then, from February 25th-March 1st, 2019, students will attend the on-site training. Students are required to complete two assignments by specific due dates, once the final assignment is handed in this will conclude Course 500 – Professionalism, Ethics and Cultural Awareness.?This course will be taught by one of our experienced and friendly CFNHM instructors who are there to help guide participants through the course material and ensure that all participants leave with a valuable learning experience.
